FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Many people throughout the Twin Cities are not familiar with foam concrete leveling and void filling. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about repairing concrete with foam jacking and filling voids.

A: Polyfoam concrete leveling is much more cost-effective because it offers a solution that is long-lasting, unlike mudjacking and slab replacement. Many times, the cost of foam jacking is half to a third of the price of replacing concrete.

A: A decade of continual testing by our foam suppliers has not identified a destruction point. Only UV rays from the sun have shown any damaging effect. But once the foam is under the concrete, UV rays cannot reach it to cause any deterioration.

A: Due to the waterproof nature of the foam, it holds up great to the freezing temperatures. Mudjacking and sand jacking are not waterproof and therefore have issues with water breaking down the material and over time, allowing the concrete to settle again.

A: Because the foam begins as a liquid form, it moves into the small voids and then expands to fill them. In just a few seconds, the foam fills the void and acts as a stabilization measure that replaces the eroded soil.

A: No, Foamjection polyurethane foam is certified toxic-free and environmentally safe. It is completely free of toxic chemicals that are often associated with some types of polyurethanes, such as some blowing agents, formaldehyde, benzene and toluene. Warnings you may see on the Internet refer to these chemicals. The Foamjection brand foam we install in the ground is like the foam you sleep on in your mattress and sit on inside your couch. But, instead of being created in a factory to be fluffy and soft, it is injected as a liquid, which then hardens to become firm and strong.
